too bad im broke in school

Now that the .p8.png file cart has been released, has anyone actually got this game working on their handheld devices?

RetroArch on Android using either the retro8 or fake8 cores doesn't work, retro8 core just goes to black screen whereas fake8 core has an error message. P8 Player from the play store also doesn't work, just throws a bunch of errors on the screen.

Wonder if this is core related issue and not the .p8.png cart file?

Very fun! Love the music too.

Love the look of this! Is the .p8 file included if I purchase? I’d love to play it on my retro handheld

Thanks! Not yet but will be. Plan is to include a minified png cart

Awesome!

Thanks for asking this question, I too have retro handheld device(s) I would love to play this on the go.

Also looking forward to a .p8 minified png cart!

I've included Outbreak in my LRJ video @ 37:09

Nice game. I didn't enjoy Vampire Survivors, but I like this one.

What does Stamina do? I don't understand it's description.

Also, strangely enough, I find Katana easier to play with than pistol.

Stamina makes some attacks last longer, mostly noticeable in the saw blades

I ended up becoming a literal death machine with max shuriken, cooldown and attack levels. I even had near max shotgun and sawblade levels for good measure. I carved a path to the chopper with machine-gun shuriken shots, so that was fun.

Pistol run complete; I'm starting to get the hang of this. Katana run is going to be the real challenge, though.

And then the Katana run - or, as I like to call it, the "lawnmower run" thanks to max cooldown and area, plus a few sawblades. Overall, a great little game for some quick fun.

:)

i did it

Way to go!

yippee also amazing game

Liked the game concept and mechanics. Enjoyed the game overall!

Ooops, got an “out of memory” error after messing about after the chopper landed while trying to max out the character XD Had just picked up a bomb.

Yeah, there is something there that doesn't like the bomb. At all! :D
I think the problem is that there is no cap to the amount of enemies you can spawn, and if you explode them all at once the game is pushed beyond it's limits...

Ah, well still very good game all the same!

Finally! Ended up with 4 Sawblades and 4 Shurikens, lots of Cooldown and Damage upgrades, Piercing +1 and some Area, Regen and Armor upgrades.

oooo, another vampire survivors like game in pico 8, nice! (also do you plan to release it on lexaloffle?)

Glad you like it!

Quite the opposite actually, my plan is to make an updated version that will be paid

alright, tbh I was kinda hoping to see how you did the code lol, it's impressive

Woohoo, finally beat it! Great game!

Woohoo! Good job!

I liked it! You could normalize the speed so it doesn't move faster diagonally

Yeah, that’s on my post-jam todo list. Scrolling looks a bit wonky at this resolution if not doing it properly so it’ll need some investigating

see Krystman shmup serie on ‘diagonal move’ for some ‘ahah’ moment

aaah! Thanks for reminding me of that one!

really cool little game, I like it :)

Happy to hear, thanks!

As always, I love your low-res graphics and pixel art! The game mechanics are super fun, and the concept is creative. The simplicity of your HUD with the countdown is helpful in such a small space. Great game! I really enjoyed playing it!

Thank you so much for the kind words Matt!

Very fun - great take on the genre. GET TO DA CHOPPAAAAA!!
