i read cosmic prolapse god dammit

graphics are really cool

Thanks - glad you like'em!

Love the game. A nice and satisfying spin on the Suika formula. The music is nice and cosy. ∞/10

Awesome, thanks!

me and my boyfriend are addicted. nuff said

Looks epic!

Game looks cool but I don't want to spend 4$ on a game where you can merge planet where there is a game in pico 8 almost the same execpt it's marbles and it's free

(+18)

That's fine! Play what you want :D

Sunk six hours into this, really enjoyed it. Absolute 'one more run' energy.

Finally got the thing after two suns merge. Seems really hard to get a second two suns, I gotta ask, if I do get two more suns and then combine that result with an existing two more suns thing. Is there a new thing or just a bigger existing thing?

(+2)

there’s another thing! Not sure it is possible to get it though ;)

(+1)(-1)

Are there achievements or 2-player mode in this game?

(+2)(-1)

Nope. It's a well crafted single player game with local high score.

(+1)

I really love this game, especially the music. Would I be able to buy the song somewhere?

(+11)

hi, i made a bandcamp page for the bgm!

https://vavmusic3.bandcamp.com/track/cosmic-collapse

thanks for asking, it really made my day :D

(+2)

I'm glad!! I love your music! I'll check out your other stuff too. :]

will there be further updates?

not planned at the moment. What would you like to see?

My ideas would be:

Controller support, less twitching of the planets when many are on top of each other, rotating planets, animations on the planets, particles when two planets collide at high speed

Cool! Most of these aren’t possible I’m afraid due to the platform I built the game on (pico8).

On the bright side, the game should already work with controllers

I love this game so much. My only real issue is how failure works, and I wish I could keep dropping items until there isn't room, without any kind of timer. (and it would be nice to not fail if you still have bullets or are about to shoot one.) It's really a blast, great job!

Any progress on a port to the app store? I'm itching to play it on my phone, pun not intended xD

(+1)

Unlikely to be this side of the year I'm afraid. Not rushing it :D

Take your time, I would love to see it at some point too

其实这个基础的玩法在中国有一款名字叫《合成大西瓜》的游戏,不过这个美术更棒,而且有额外的击碎星球的玩法。awa

Great game... maybe port to LOVE2D and get it on iOS/Android? This is exactly the type of game I'd love to play on my phone....

(+2)

Thanks Tom! It’s been suggested quite a bit actually. Not a fan of mobile games, but maybe it is worth a shot?

(+1)

Yeah LOVE2D compiles for mobile, it's in Lua.... seems like a no-brainer?

And I bet way more people would buy it on mobile -- the endlessly playable casual games...  Could do it try-buy if you want (play five times or something) so no friction to download.  Or after five plays, just simple circles after, etc.

Either way, I'LL BUY IT, and that's all that matters... I need an alternative game to Desert Golfing :D

(+3)

yeah should be trivial to port and I already have a love2D environment set up. Mostly not keen on filling out forms on app stores :o

but for you Tom!!!

(+2)

Haha fair!

Aw thanks... but it is for ALL OF GAMING!

(+1)

Hello there !
I've bought "cosmic collapse" because of Seldell :D
Thanks a lot for your work, it is a really nice a relaxing game !

One thought though, I can't see any wheel of evolution nor a list of all the planets on the sides : is it normal or my installation has bugged somehow ?

Second question: if I manage to merge 2 suns, do they disappear ?

Hello! Glad to hear you like the game!

I actually skipped the progression wheel from the ui for a couple of reasons:

  • it didn’t fit
  • you quickly learn the order
  • I like surprises

and yes, merge two suns and you’ll get sth new!

vividlyVIVI sent me here

Welcome!

Any plans to release on other platforms, like mobile or consoles?

game is just a couple of days old so haven’t gotten that far yet. :)

Lol take your time, I guess i just was wondering if other pico-8 devs have ever managed to release to these platforms

(+1)

there’s no clear path that I know of:)

What ends the game? It's something about the planets touching or being over the line, but I don't get if it's time-based or them touching the top of the screen and the line is just a warning or what?

As soon as a planet’s center point is above the line for more  than half a second or so the game ends

Can you clarify the chain multiplier? I assume that if dropping one planet causes 5 merges than the last will be x5, but it kinda seems time based

(+1)

if a planet merges again within a short time (half a second maybe) the multiplier for that planet increases by one.

Was the nuke system changed? Used to be every 1k, but then i got one at 5.5k and it gets a bit confusing after that.

yes! After 4000 the needed points increase with 500 for every missile. So it’s 4000, 5500, 7500, 10k, etc.

having missiles every 1k made it possible to go infinite fairly easy

Holding X to release planets constantly will trigger the dotted failure line to appear sooner than it should.

oh? It should appear around 256 points.

Ahh, maybe it still does. I guess I misunderstood what usually triggers it.

プラネットスイカ!!! (I'm American)

The score text runs off the left side of the screen at 20000

fix is on the way!

(+1)

Superb Suika-like (if you don't mind me calling it that). The missile mechanic is a very welcome addition, allowing you to play longer, but you actually have to work for them so it doesn't exactly introduce a, well, easy mode. Oh, and did I mention the soundtrack is bangin'?

Thank you so much, glad you like it!

This looks genius

<3

Oh what a cool idea! Looks very fun, I have to try this. It would be fine if the planets could rotate when moving aside. But I don’t know if it’s easy to achieve for you. I’m sure it won’t look very good with such pixelated graphics, but you could give a try. Good work, anyways!

Rotating is a bit out of scope for the project and platform, besides I think the pixelart would be ruined :)

Thanks!

It's a bit like Tetris with planets and gravity. What's not to love about that? Great game!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!

I totally love that you can use the physics to push planet arounds and force them to merge, make it feels pretty dynamic and less static. And I love that there is not time limit or something that forces me to drop the planets as soon as they appear. It's pretty chill. I like that.
